Emory & Henry Scholarships
Emily Williams Scholarship Award
Purpose of Award: To provide for study during the coming summer at an English or Scottish University and for travel in Great Britain; to promote understanding, goodwill, and peaceful cooperation among all people of the world who speak English.
Amount: $3000; this should cover most major expenses, including travel; any additional expenses must be paid by the award winner.
Institution: The university and course of study are chosen by the prize winner and must be stated in the application. All arrangements regarding entrance, registration, and travel are the responsibility of the winner.
Qualifications: The applicant must be a citizen of the United States; a student at Emory & Henry College who has not heretofore studied in the United Kingdom; between the ages of 18 and 23 as of June 1; be a junior in a degree program; hold a 3.0 GPA or higher; possess literary and scholastic ability and have high standards of character. The winner will be expected to enroll at Emory & Henry College next year and must agree to report to various constituencies on his/her summer experiences.
Applications: Interested students may pick up an application from Angela Brink in the office of the Dean of Faculty (Wiley Hall 101).
Deadline: Applications must be presented to the Dean of Faculty's office by 4:00 pm Friday, February 1, 2008.
Royce L. B. Morris Study Abroad Scholarship:

CIEE Scholarships
(Specifically for students participating in programs through CIEE)
John E. Bowman Travel Grants: Helps defray the cost of travel for students planning to study in a non-traditional destination. Regions currently eligible include: Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America
Robert B. Bailey Scholarship: Intended to promote the participation in CIEE's International Study Programs of individuals or members of groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in study abroad, especially ethnic minority students.
CIEE International Study Programs (CIEE-ISP) Scholarships: Available to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need.
Jennifer Ritzmann Scholarship for Studies in Tropical Biology: Available to students accepted to CIEE's Study Center program in Monteverde, Costa Rica.
U.S. Department of Education Fulbright-Hays Project Abroad Scholarship for Programs in China: Available to students participating in the Chinese language programs offered by the CIEE Study Centers. Previous study of Mandarin Chinese is required.

More Scholarships
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship:
Open to all majors and applicable to almost any country. The Gilman scholarship funds up to $5,000 for a semester or academic year, with an additional $3,000 available to students studying Critical Need Languages (Arabic, Chinese, Turkic, Persian, Indic, Korean, or Russian). Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships: Provides funding for a year of study at one of many universities around the world. Open to all majors.
Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships: Provides funding for three or six months of intensive language study and cultural immersion in another country. Open to all majors.

Freeman-ASIA Scholarship:
Designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. Previous language study is not required. More information.

Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan
