Work or Intern Abroad



Working or interning in a foreign country allows you to live like a local while exploring a new place. Many organizations facilitate the process of arranging to work abroad and internships are available around the world:

Cross-Cultural Solutions offers internships in health, education, and social services in Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Peru, Russia, Tanzania, and Thailand. Internships range from 2-12 weeks in length. Academic credit is possible.

In addition to its semester programs, The Beijing Institute of Asian Studies offers summer, fall, and spring internships in business, IT, media, law, NGO and non-profits, and others.

The JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) program allows you to teach English in Japan.

The ICE (International Cooperative Education) program arranges paying internship and work experiences around the world.

CDS International lists programs available to US students for jobs and internships abroad, including opportunities in Germany, Switzerland, Argentina, and Spain.

AustraLearn arranges internships in New Zealand and Australia.

Boston University offers internships in Australia, China, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Spain, and Switzerland.

CIEE organizes semester and summer internships in 11 countries.

Volunteer Abroad



Volunteering abroad is an exciting way to serve others -- you can even earn Bonner service hours as you are immersed in another culture. These opportunities allow you to work alongside other Americans and international volunteers as well as local residents to work for a common goal.

Alternative Spring Break: Spend your spring break in Costa Rica doing construction and mission work in conjunction with Emory United Methodist Church. Contact: Tim Kobler

Volunteers for Peace connects you with work camps around the world. You might work with disabled children in India, restore a castle in France, work in an eco-village in Iceland, or help with one of hundreds of other projects.
