The Emory & Henry College Campus Police & Security Department is a full-service police agency, which is always open to answer questions or to assist community members in any way possible. We are located in the Martin Brock Student Center beside The Hut.
E&H police officers have jurisdiction and legal authority on all college-owned property. Since students live both on- and off- campus, we work very closely and share jurisdiction with the Glade Spring Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies in the area.
Those of you living on campus in residence halls will see officers on a regular basis. Officers are required to visit with area coordinators and resident advisors regularly. Officers are also required to visit academic buildings. We maintain a high visibility on campus to enforce the law and to give you a sense of security and safety.
We are an alcohol-free campus, except for designated tailgating areas during football games. Anyone caught possessing alcohol on campus will be charged either judicially or criminally, depending upon the circumstances involved. Narcotics will not be tolerated on our Campus and will be cause for immediate charges and judicial action.
Being aware of your surroundings and using good judgment lessens the likelihood of you becoming a target for crime. Theft is the biggest crime problem reported on campus. Locking your doors and marking and securing your valuables will reduce the chances you will be the victim of theft. We have provided a link on our site for you to register valuable items with our department. Please register these items. We cannot locate your property without proper documentation or personalization information.
I hope you enjoy your time here at Emory & Henry College and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
