Theme Housing
Emory & Henry College began offering theme housing for various organizations and interests in 2008. The residents of these houses maintain and pursue goals pursuant to an ideal. They work together to broaden their understanding of a subject while involving themselves with the campus and surrounding community.
Honors Hall
Weaver Hall serves as the Emory & Henry Honors House. All students living in this residence hall participate in the E&H Honors Program. Living together in this co-educational house helps these students maintain a strong connection throughout the Honors program. In Weaver Hall men live on the first floor and women live on the second. The third floor is co-educational. The hall members work closely with Dr. Joe Lane, who oversees the Honor’s Program, and one head resident assistant and two resident assistants, who livesin the house to ensure a strong academic and social community.
Women's Eco House
The Women’s Eco House is closely connected with the Emory & Henry Greens. The residents are living a conscious lifestyle that supports energy waste reduction, is mindful of the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), and opts for healthier local or organic consumer choices. They are happy to be united with the common cause of changing people’s attitudes regarding energy sources and usage and simple lifestyle choices. The Women’s Eco House has the distinction of being the first building with partial solar power at Emory & Henry College.
Women's Performing Arts House
The Women’s Performing Arts House is a place where women with a major or minor in performing arts may choose to live. The members of the house support one another by attending the performances of their house mates, offering constructive critiques and providing moral support. Residents enjoy being surrounded by people who understand the struggles, concerns and triumphs associated with their endeavors.
Women's Creativity House
The Women’s Creativity House is the newest of Emory & Henry’s theme houses. Residents have come together around the idea that creativity and imagination can sponsor a great living environment.
Men's Simple Living House
Formerly the Men’s Eco House, the Men’s Simple Living House is a community of students who are dedicated to a unique way of living. In its most basic sense this means minimizing the individual’s impact on the environment. The main goal of the house is to live environmentally conscious and use resources in the best way possible. The members of the house are committed to educating and encouraging other residents across campus to adopt an energy conscious mindset. They believe that with simple changes in the way we live our daily lives, we can make remarkable decreases in our consumption of energy, water and other non-renewable resources.
Women's Spiritual Life House
This house has a mission to be a Christian community for the campus as well as a welcoming place for all people. Residents host a weekly Bible study that is open to the campus. The house is a popular hang out for students, who often come for Bible studies or other programs or just drop by just to say hello.
Men's Spiritual Life House
Spiritual life houses are our oldest theme houses. One of the main goals for the men’s house is to foster community growth among those involved with spiritual life on campus. House residents seek to live together while living out the call found in the scriptures: to live in community, to take care of one another’s needs, and to love and reach out to the community at large. By hosting a weekly men’s Bible study, they seek to be leaders within the house and on campus.
