The E&H Outdoor Program believes that to walk and be still in the woods are two of the most worthy activities in which an individual may engage. A renewal of body, mind and spirit is available to everyone on a hike, and the Outdoor Program will lead the way.

We’ll provide you with encouragement, hiking poles, backpacks, peanut butter, maps, guides, and even a ride to the trail head. We just want you to discover your hike and then help you develop the skills to get it on!
Several E&H students, faculty and staff have become so enthusiastic in their hiking life that they decided to hike all 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail in one continuous thru-hike. Jason Hibbitts completed his southbound, thru-hike of the A.T. in November of 2006. Jason was enrolled as a fulltime student in the fall semester and in conjunction with the Outdoor Leadership Program developed three independent study projects in Photography, Physical Education and Creative Writing.
Whether it’s a relaxing dayhike or a long distance backpacking expedition, the E&H Outdoor Program is ready to hike.
