Spiritual Life

Opportunities for involvement in Spiritual Life are as unique as the students we serve. While rooted in the United Methodist tradition, our Spiritual Life support takes a holistic view and offers respect for each person's place across the spectrums of faiths and commitment. College Chaplain Mary K. Briggs opens the doors of our Chapel and our minds leading our community of students to grow together in spiritual discernment. Whether your need is preparation for church ministry, counseling for a personal matter, or a place to meet friends, you are welcome.

Grow in Faith, Grow in Friendship

Take a quick look at E&H Spiritual Life events in this video produced by Cole Conley, '14, Mathematics and Economics major.  You are invited to any meeting or event at any time.

AhnnaLise Jennings, '12 - Religion & History Major

"Emory & Henry offered me a place to explore my calling to ministry hand in hand with my love of social justice. The communities of faith here allowed me to find the best friends of my life and the ideas and ideals that have shaped me into the person I am today and the person that I am continuously becoming."

Activities: MLK Day Committee, Campus Christian Fellowship President, Inazu House Manager, Encounter Worship Leader

Future: Pursuing a Master of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2012

Gabriella Provenzano, '13 - Biology Major

"My favorite part of E&H Spiritual Life is the people involved in it. It is not the organization or program that challenges me, but it is the people who surround me and hold me accountable. It is the people who challenge me to be stronger in my faith and seek God more and more every day."

Activities: Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leader, Higher
Ground, Kerygma, Blue & Gold Society, Cardinal Key, Honors Program, Service Council, BBB Honor Society, Spring Break Mission Trip Coordinator

Future: "I plan on being a missionary wherever God may
one day call me." Pursuing an advanced degree in Global Health after graduation.

Rayce Lamb, '13 - History & Social Science Major

"Encounter worship service is a student organized and led worship held every Sunday night. It allows me to become involved with Spiritual Life and grow closer to God. The worship is casual, simple, and yet meaningful to me as an E&H student, but more importantly as an individual."

Activities: Bonner Scholar, MLK Day Committee, Honors
Program, Encounter Coordinator, Higher Ground Founder, Spring Break Mission Trip Team

Jordan Remy, '15 - International Business Major

"I go to the Higher Ground Bible Study, and we get new members pretty much every Thursday that we meet! Spiritual Life programs at E&H seem to bring out the best in people, and reduce the burden of stress on everyone. We are incredibly diverse and inclusive, and our retreats off campus are a blast!"

Activities: Habitat for Humanity Leader, Outdoor Leadership Program, Spiritual Life, Kerygma, Higher Ground
