Profiles in Hope
The students featured in the series of advertisements entitled "Profiles in Hope" reflect the passion that E&H students have to use their education to improve the world around them.
In these ads students address issues related to the environment, community building and education.

- E&H Signs Agreement to Help Revitalize Fries, Va.

- President Rosalind Reichard signed an agreement Thursday, October 2 with Fries Mayor Mike Spears that calls on the two communities to work together to help the town transition from its former manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on its cultural and outdoor recreation-based activities.

- Byars Hall Opening Ceremony

- President Rosalind Reichard was joined by three other speakers Sept. 11, 2008 to celebrate the opening of the renovated Byars Hall. The $7 million upgrades to the historic facility included a three-story addition were completed spring 2008.

- 50th Concert Choir Reunion

- More than 200 people came to campus in May 2008 to celebrate 50 years of great singing. The Emory & Henry College Concert Choir is shown singing in Memorial Chapel.

- 2008 Commencement

- The 160th Commencement Ceremony of Emory & Henry College was held May 10 on the South Law of Memorial Chapel. Included in the video are scenes from the student procession and highlights from the ceremony's speakers.

- Fred Selfe Athletic Stadium Groundbreaking

- Some 400 people gathered Friday, March 28, 2008 afternoon at the E&H football field to witness the groundbreaking on the stadium project. They listened to a line-up of speakers who praised Selfe and spoke of the importance of the stadium to his legacy and the E&H athletic program. The video clip includes a segment of President Reichard's remarks and the ceremonial groundbreaking.

- Winter Forum 2008

- Bill McKibben, one of the nation's most outspoken and respected environmental critics, spoke Thursday, March 14, 2008 to some 1,000 people packed inside Memorial Chapel. His address was the highlight of the annual day-long Winter Forum, which engages E&H students, professors and staff members in discussions about relevant social issues.

- Leidig Lectureship in Poetry

- Former U.S. Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser was the featured speaker for the 2008 Leidig Lectureship at Emory & Henry. Inaugurated in 1997, the lectureship brings to the Emory & Henry campus each year a distinguished poet to help promote the reading, study, and writing of poetry.
