E&H offers a nationally accredited teacher preparation program in twenty one endorsement areas approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia
The Emory & Henry Program is nationally accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) which is now overseen by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). We offer initial licensure areas in two options, the undergraduate (4-year) and the Five-year (B.A. or B.S. plus M.A.Ed in Professional Studies).
We have a 100% pass rate on state required assessments for teacher licensure (i.e. Praxis I, Praxis II, RVE and VCLA) and a 100% graduation rate for all teaching candidates who are admitted into our program. All admitted candidates complete clinical experiences in the public school classroom, demonstrate their ability to teach effectively and earn endorsement to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 82% of our graduates from the 2019-2020 academic year are working in the field of education during this academic year. Additional placement data on our graduates is available here.
Feedback from our alumni and their employers is essential in molding our program to respond to the changing needs of today’s classrooms. CAEP requires that we report annually eight reporting measures of our program and that our program demonstrates its impact on our future teachers. Our completers show continued growth and impact on student learning.
The school default rate is 11% based off the most recent data for fiscal year 2017.
