Art

Emory & Henry Art Department awards performance-based scholarships for incoming first-year and transfer students. These scholarships are based on a portfolio review and interview or submission and exhibition of your work into our Blue & Gold Juried High School Art Competition.

1. Portfolio-Based Interview:

The student may submit original work, an online portfolio link, a flash drive or CD-ROM at the time of the interview. Portfolios should contain 6-12 images. All applicants should complete the departmental scholarship application prior to the interview because Emory & Henry values previous experience and engagement in the visual arts, which includes previous awards and exhibits. The portfolio should be accompanied by a printed list including the applicant’s name, title of work (or name of project, if any), date, medium, and dimensions (height x width).

Art Portfolio Application

The student will be notified of the decision of the review committee approximately two weeks after their portfolio review. Students are encouraged to schedule a personalized campus visit for a tour or portfolio review.

Scholarship students should demonstrate a serious commitment toward the pursuit of a profession in the visual arts such as an art educator, visual artist, photographer or graphic designer.

2. Blue & Gold Juried Regional High School Arts Exhibition:

Each year Emory & Henry invites area high school junior and senior students to submit artwork, in any media, to be juried in the Emory & Henry High School Arts Exhibition. Three students are awarded a scholarship to Emory & Henry, conditional upon acceptance to the college.

Eligibility:

  • Open to High School Juniors and Seniors residing within 200-mile radius of Emory & Henry.
  • All artwork must be original, ready to exhibit, and completed by the student in the last two years.
  • For the protection of the work, we request that two-dimensional work be appropriately framed with wire hangers.
