Emory & Henry College’s Mass Communications Department invites you to participate in the first annual Middle Appalachian High School Media Association (MAHSMA) Competition and Media Conference.
Benefits of Participation:
To qualify for the competition, students and/or organizations need to be active members of the organization. Submissions need to have been created during the calendar year preceding the competition (e.g., created January-December 2017) to qualify for the spring 2018 awards). Entries must be submitted by January 15, 2018. The conference and awards ceremony will be held on February 24, 2018 at Emory & Henry College.
Judging is completed by teams of Emory & Henry faculty and students, association members, and invited guests. Judges complete rubrics to provide feedback while avoiding bias.
Awards will be given to first, second, and third place, as well as honorable mention. Each placement may receive an E&H scholarship. Students intending to pursue the scholarship should apply to Emory & Henry College by February 1.
Recipients of a Mass Communications scholarship at Emory & Henry College receive a renewable, four-year scholarship as incoming, first-year, undergraduate students enrolled in the B.A. in Mass Communications degree program. In addition to receiving financial aid, these students participate in on-going community media programming, community-building, reflections and leadership development.
