We know that connections are the cornerstone of the Emory & Henry experience. Our collective connections are exemplified by our deeply rooted sense of place and purpose, shared encounters and traditions; and our academic commitment to excellence and
meaningful experiences.
The things we do today will shape what the College’s future reputation and contributions to the world will be.
Emory & Henry is making the most of these opportunities to further enhance students at a time when other institutions of higher education are facing a state of disruption. The College has embraced the lessons learned from a long history of going through flexible periods of “creative reinvention,” when Emory & Henry has undertaken updates to make itself more relevant. Our current growth is another exciting period of creative reinvention, deeply rooted in our steadfast focus on student success.
The foundation of student success has multiple parallel elements that have supported the growth we are now observing. We seek to further enhance these elements as the premier private institution of higher education in Southwest Virginia and in the region.
Areas of support:
Emory & Henry invites you to share in this vision through your support as we deepen the equestrian program’s culture of championship and embrace the full potential of our high-caliber, high-performing Intermont Equestrian Program as a nationally recognized program.
With these students comes a reinforcement of our values: excellence, leadership and individual responsibility. In addition to the 22 national championships that these student-athletes have garnered, students have honored the institution through their academic achievement, commitment to service, and work ethic.
The continued success of Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College has translated into a growing program for both equestrian competition and equine studies. In fall 2021, the College began offering equine assisted therapy as a new major.
To continue the success of the equestrian program and to attract and retain students, E&H must improve its equine facilities.

Construction of a multi-sport complex will provide critical space for competition in track/field and cross country, the College’s fastest growing sports.
This new facility will also facilitate the addition of women’s lacrosse, women’s rugby and men’s lacrosse. It is projected that these sports will bring an additional 90 student-athletes to the College.
In addition, a multi-sport complex will allow the College to expand camps and clinics and host high school/college competitions and championships. This ability to host outside events will be a source of revenue generation for the College.
Areas of support:
This facility will allow the College to provide a broader array of athletic offerings to students and promote a new front door to Emory & Henry to the nearly 40,000 interstate travelers who pass the entrance to the College each day.
Your generous support will provide the resources to enrich the on-campus experience in support of student success and elevate the Emory & Henry experience for all students.
In addition to the exciting developments related to our high-caliber, high-performing athletics program and Intermont Equestrian Program, there have been a number of other recent changes and additions to support student success, including:
