The goal of the Library Instruction Program is to foster information literacy as an integral part of the College’s commitment to scholarship.
We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with faculty to provide library instruction sessions tailored to meet specific course objectives and assignments. The Library strives to offer a program of instruction designed to provide the students, faculty, and staff of Emory & Henry College with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively locate, evaluate, and use information both for academic success in a liberal arts setting and in support of lifelong learning.
Our professional library staff will be happy to provide the following services to faculty:
- Orientations to the library, its services, and its facilities
- Instruction in information research to classes
- Working with you on creating effective library assignments
- Providing in-depth reference assistance to you and your students
Course instructors may place physical and electronic items such as books, workbooks, CDs, and DVDs on reserve for students to use during the semester. These items may be library material or personal copies. Personal items will be returned at the end of the reserve semester (Physical Reserves) or after being digitized (eReserves). See the Course Reserves Policy for more information.
**Due to current pandemic exceptions, Physical (on-campus) Reserves will not be available for the 2020-2021 academic year. eReserves will be available.**
The Library welcomes requests from faculty and staff for book and audiovisual purchases. Preference is given to materials that support specific courses, the curriculum, or student needs. The Library reserves the right to make final decisions as to which items will be purchased. See the Collection Management Policy for more information.
