9:55-10:40 Prepare for Your Mission: First-Year Seminar

Campus Classrooms

Students and guests attend an information session for the First-Year “Self” Seminar, a course you’ll take this fall. Your instructor will be your first-year advisor. After the session, meet at the statues of John Emory and Patrick Henry.*

10:50-11:35  Superpowers: Rotations

If you have advising this rotation, return to the statues after your meeting ends.*

11:40-12:20 “Somebody Get that Kid a Sandwich”**: Lunch

Van Dyke Center, Dining Hall

Have lunch with your orientation group. Students interested in pre-health or exercise science, or who will be joining athletic teams or band, please look for tables reserved for your group in the cafeteria. After lunch, meet your orientation group at the Duck Pond at 12:30 p.m.

Superpowers Rotations

Advising

Faculty Offices

Meet with your advisor to review your class schedule. Orientation Leaders lead you to the correct faculty offices. Advising lasts for 20 minutes. Before or after advising (depending on your schedule), Orientation Leaders meet with you in the Kelly Library lobby for an informal question and answer session.

Email and Apps

McGowan Lab, Basement of Kelly Library

Student leaders and IT Help Desk staff help to make sure you can log into email and introduce you to important E&H applications and platforms, including the Self-Service portal used for academic and financial planning.

Ampersand Center and the PRC

Van Dyke Center, Board of Visitors (BOV) Lounge

Where can your E&H education take you? In this session, we’ll talk about how your college experience will prepare you for your future, and services to help you excel while you’re here. Meet staff from the Ampersand Center (career services, project-based learning, ePortfolios) and the Powell Resource Center (academic support, disability support services, personal counseling).

Meet in the lobby of the MCA immediately after closing remarks for a 3:15 p.m. tour of a residence hall with Residence Life staff.

Ampersand Center

Students who want to learn more about majors and the careers they lead to are invited to drop by until 4 p.m. and chat with the Ampersand Center staff, who can assist with choosing majors, project-based work and internships, grant funding and alumni mentorship.

Pre-Health Advising

The Depot

Students interested in pre-health programs or exercise science are invited to stop by to talk with Dr. J.P. Barfield, Professor of Exercise Science, in the Depot (located across from Macado’s in the E&H Village).

Meet with Financial Aid or Student Accounts

Wiley Hall

Stop by to check in with Financial Aid or Student Accounts regarding your award or payment plan. Financial Aid (Wiley 101) and Student Accounts (Wiley 131) are open until 3:30 p.m.

Meetings with the Powell Resource Center (PRC)

Call the PRC in advance or stop by our E&H Expo table during check-in to set up an appointment to talk about academic support, learning accommodations or personal counseling.

IT Help Desk Drop-In Hours

Basement of Kelly Library

Find the IT Help Desk in the basement of Kelly Library, open until 5 p.m., if you have any questions about computers, Wi-Fi, passwords, online platforms to support classroom learning or granting proxy access for grades and financial information to your family.
