What is the Summer Scholars Institute and Leadership Program?
In collaboration with the Emory & Henry College Neff Education Department, the Summer Scholars Institute and Leadership Program seeks to offer gifted and/or academically curious students a rich and rewarding learning experience. The Emory & Henry Summer Scholars program is a one-week residential academic program for rising middle and high school students inclined toward academic adventure. For rising 6th - 9th graders, the traditional Summer Scholars Institute offers a unique mix of learning activities designed to broaden academic interests and expose students to a college-like setting. The Leadership Program, for rising 10th-12th graders, provides opportunities for older students to discover and to develop leadership skills through a variety of challenging activities.
The residential component is an important segment of the Summer Scholars experience. Counselors provide a comfortable and safe environment for learning and living while meeting the student’s unique social and emotional needs. Students are provided opportunities to build relationships with their peers from different backgrounds, and, most of all, the opportunity to have fun!
