Annette Tudor is New Director of Bristol (Tenn.) City Public Schools
Annette Wizorek Tudor (E&H Class of 1994) is the new Director of Bristol (Tennessee) City Public Schools. That would be a stiff challenge under any circumstances, but imagine taking on that job during a pandemic.
Annette has actually been serving as interim director since February, and she says there certainly hasn’t been a dull moment. “Every day is a new adventure for sure! I certainly am challenged daily but it is such a gratifying position to be in. Because no one has ever experienced anything like this before, it’s hard to mess it up! We are just doing the best we can, under the circumstances, to make sure our students are okay.”
Annette has been in Bristol schools for 20 years, teaching special education, serving as assistant principal, supervisor and now Director of Schools. She is grateful for those who have come before her, and hopes to add to the good work done already. “I want folks to know that it is a privilege to serve my district in this capacity and I am blessed and honored to do so. My greatest hope is that we build upon our tradition of excellence and that every student in our district succeeds and excels at whatever they pursue in life. It sounds cliché, but that’s why we do what we do every day. We want to help lead students to a deeper understanding of who they are and what strengths they have so they are prepared for anything.”
And she gives credit to the E&H education department for getting her ready for all the challenges she has, and will, encounter. “I want the E&H community to know how prepared I felt when I started my career after graduating from Emory & Henry. I loved my time at Emory & Henry. It was the perfect fit for me and prepared me well for my future.”
