Kishanna Caesar Heyward says, “Credit is Queen, Charlene!”

Posted by Monica Hoel
Color me better informed about how credit works.

At first, it may seem like an unusual theme for a coloring book: credit. Imagine talking to a small child about how credit cards, credit ratings, loans, investments, and reward points. Now – imagine how far ahead in the game you might have been if you had understood those things at an earlier age.

That’s the idea behind Kishanna Caesar Heyward’s new coloring book, Credit is Queen, Charlene (there’s also a more masculine version called Credit is King, Kareem). While coloring cute pictures and solving word search puzzles, kids are also learning about FICO and credit profiles and being prepared for things like home ownership and buying a car.

Kishanna owns her own realty company in Fayetteville, North Carolina, ASAP Home Investments, and she understands intimately the importance of keeping a clean credit record so that the important purchases in life can become a reality for today and will also create family wealth for the next generation. The coloring book also includes some pointers for parents who might also be learning a little about healthy credit while coloring with the kids.

Kishanna says her daughter, Olivia, was the inspiration for this project. At four years old, she accompanies her mom to the bank and to attorneys’ offices for closings, and she has a lot of questions about how her mom’s business works. When Kishanna completed the coloring book project, the critique that meant the most to her was from her daughter – and Olivia declared, “You’re a Champion!”

You can find the coloring books at Amazon.com.
