E&H School of Health Sciences faculty and students to present virtually at international conference
The following are the presentations taking place over the month of February:
Dr. Rose Pignataro will present with 2020 graduate Emily Brittingham Kerbuski a session entitled “Move it or Lose it: Exercise and the Prevention of Non-traumatic Lower Extremity Amputations.”
Dr. Jean Irion will present “One if by Land, Two if by Water: Aquatic Intervention in PT and PTA Education Programs.”
Along with a team of researchers, Dr. Glenn Irion will present “Using the Peer-review Process to Improve Research: A Guide for Reviewers and Authors.” Dr. Irion is also presenting with 3rd year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students Greg Gerardi, Mitch Leatherman, Ike Podell and Tyler Ringley on “Geographic Distribution of Certified Wound Specialist Therapists in Relation to CAPTE Accredited Programs.”
DPT faculty members Dr. Ashlee Medley and John Graham will present with DPT students Kasey Fleenor, Anastasia Pavlack, Kelly Wild and Master of Occupational Therapy graduates Megan Hall, Heather Noffsinger, and Ashley Wixon on “Epidemiological and Demographic Factors of Children Born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and/or Substance Exposure (SE) in Southwest Virginia.”
Dr. Kristi Angelopoulou will present with DPT students Matt Abdelmalek, Aaron Bowe, Julianna Flade, Lindsay Gerhardt, Amanda Joyce on Identifying the frequency of patients presenting with abnormal blood pressure in outpatient physical therapy clinics serving regions of Central Appalachia.
