Women’s History Month Staff Spotlight: Rev. Sharon Bowers
Today we are highlighting Rev. Sharon Bowers!
Reverend Bowers is the Director of the ID Center and the associate chaplain at Emory & Henry. She has over 30 years of experience in full-time ministry and has a long-established history of being a champion of diversity. She is the founder and CEO of Character Based Leadership Institute, Inc., an innovative leadership and personal development ministry helping Christians and others lead and live with character. Before coming to Emory & Henry College, Reverend Bowers most recently served at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville as the Executive Director of the Wesley Foundation.
When Rev. Bowers is not running the ID Center or preaching, she enjoys making jewelry, walking and reading. One of her most empowering experiences is becoming a reverend in a male dominated world. She suggested that we learn more about Angela Davis, Tony Morrison, and Leontine T. Kelly as they are women who inspire her.
If she could give one piece of advice to women, she says “Remember that you don’t have to have others validate you. You are enough”.
