A New Take on the Age Old “Book Club”

Posted by Leah Wilson
Challenge yourself to “Be Antiracist” by learning from activist and author, Ibram X. Kendi, in this new Podcast Discussion Club that meets every other Tuesday from 3pm-4pm in the Appalachian Center for Civic Life.

If you are wanting to become more active on campus, then look no farther than the Bonner’s Podcast Club. This club is open to all: students, staff, and faculty. The discussion group meets every other Tuesday in the Appalachian Center from 3:00-4:00pm. The club is currently reviewing a podcast called “Be Antiracist”, based on the popular books of Ibram X. Kendi. Each episode talks about the racial injustices happening in our society through the help of a creditable researcher or historian special guest. The Bonner Podcast Club’s goal is to shed more light on the racial injustices happening in our country and in our own lives.

The Emory & Henry family discusses political topics freely, in a safe space, tackling problems with laws, legislation and difference in treatment among different racial groups. According to, club founder, Bradley Hartsell, “The club is a civic oriented and civically engaged group, reviewing real life, every day topics, from different perspectives.”

All are welcome to join, if interested you can contact Bradley Hartsell at bhartsell@ehc.edu or stop by to visit the Appalachian Civic Center across from Stewart Hall.
