WEHC Brings Santa and Christmas Cheer to the Stage!

Posted by Ivy Sheppard

WEHC 90.7FM will launch a program that seeks to highlight the talent and traditions of Southwest Virginia with a Christmas show. “The Sampler” premieres on Wednesday, December 15th at 7:30pm in the Black Box Theatre in the McGlothlin Center for the Arts on the campus of Emory and Henry College. The show is free and open to the public.

“The Christmas Sampler” will feature an appearance by Santa before a live studio audience. Children are encouraged to send or bring in a letter, and be prepared to talk to Santa. Wise Man Ed Davis and Tippy the Elf will entertain and introduce performances by the Upper Emory Carolers and virtuoso singing talent, Chandler Foster.

“The evening promises to provide warmth and cheer along with some joyful Christmas entertainment,” Sheppard said. “And it will launch what we believe will be a very engaging show that highlights what is great about the people of this region.”

The show is free and open to the public. Reservations are encouraged, however, and can be made by calling 276-944-6333 or sending an email to arts@ehc.edu. Masks and proof of vaccination or a recent COVID test (within 3 days) are required.

Additionally, we’d love to get letters from kids to Santa who will be in the studios of WEHC 90.7 on December 21, 22, and 23 from 3-4. He will be answering calls and reading letters. This was a huge success last year and we hope it will be again this year. Letters may be emailed to wehc@ehc.edu or to Santa in care of WEHC PO Box 947 Emory, Va 24327 and the Santa hotline is 276-944-6933.
