Baylor Padgett presents original research at regional conference
Baylor Padgett presented her original research findings at Southern Sociological Society’s (SSS) annual meeting in Birmingham, AL. One of a small number of undergraduates chosen to present in a paper session, Baylor spoke on her year-long qualitative study, “The Unseen Effect of the Pandemic on Female-Identified College Students at a Small, Liberal Arts College.”
Baylor’s research used an innovative methodology called Photovoice, in which the researcher gathers and analyzes both narrative and visual data (in the form of photographs) from participants. She hopes that her findings can inform school policy and practice throughout the pandemic or in other similar situations.
The Southern Sociological Society is a robust professional organization with membership hailing from around the country. This year’s meeting in Birmingham was held April 6-9, 2022 and included approximately 900 sociologists.
