Jazmyn Jackson to continue education
Our Emory & Henry seniors are preparing to graduate and change the world.
Jazmyn Jackson of Clarksville, Va. will receive a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in civic innovation.
Jazmyn will graduate with the class of 2023. In addition to her studies in sociology, Jackson is also a member of women’s rugby, Sigma Upsilon Nu and C Phi C.
“The departments that I became involved in really were meant for me. The professors were always willing to help and encouraged me to push myself more than I have ever done,” Jackson said. “The people that were taking the same path as me were from different parts of life which definitely helped me think outside of myself and the box. I learned that when we have a common goal, no matter the differences, we will come together and be successful. What prepared me for the evolving workforce was learning and understanding the different difficulties faced by everyone even when society is forcing the same struggles on everyone. I am prepared to enter the workforce with an open mind, open heart, and open soul.
“I plan to take a gap year, travel and do some community work during my time. I plan to return to school and get my Masters in Criminal Justice or Sociology,” Jackson said.
Jackson is a first-generation college student.
