Noah Dean Is a Consultant for Wetland Protection

Noah Dean covers a lot of ground – and much of it is unique and rare and important.

His work with SEGi (Southern Environmental Group, Inc.) has him serving as a consultant for those who might be interested in developing property that contains land considered a wetland.

Wetland areas are closely monitored and protected because they harbor a huge array of animals and plants – many of which are rare or endangered. Wetland areas serve an important element of a healthy ecosystem, and they also provide a crucial function of flood mitigation.

So when a developer wants to build they need consultants like Noah to come in and evaluate the property to determine if there is a wetland area on the acreage. In a community like Wilmington, North Carolina, there are a lot of wetland areas, and builders often have to reconsider their plans or perhaps recreate wetland area in a different location.

Noah loves the job, and his work often presents the opportunity to see rare and wonderful plant and animal species like Rough-Leaved Loosestrife, Venus Flytraps, and the Red Cockaded Woodpecker.
