2023 Sports Hall of Fame

The Emory & Henry College Department of Athletics inducted the 2023 Sports Hall of Fame class on Saturday, November 4. Five individuals were awarded the College’s highest athletic honor. In addition, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented by the Sports Hall of Fame.

Sports Hall of Fame Inductees

Stafford Stephenson ’69 scored more than 1,000 points during his time at E&H. He had a long and successful career as a coach at both the high school and collegiate levels and was a well-respected broadcaster.

Dana Boyd ’85 has been an integral part of Emory & Henry for 30 years, notably in athletics for 22. Her dedication to various roles and behind-the-scenes efforts, ensuring smooth operations and supporting athletes, earned her multiple recognitions, including the prestigious Certificate of Appreciation from the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame.

Dr. Taylor Lyne re-’88 shone as an offensive lineman, contributing to two ODAC championships and an NCAA Division III National Semifinal in ’87, earning All-American status and accolades for his blocking prowess.

Aaron Brand, Sr. ’98 had an unbeaten career as quarterback for the football team, securing four consecutive ODAC titles. He excelled in baseball too, setting records in pitching and fielding, earning MVP in both sports in ’97.

Reid Ebert, Jr. ’94 was a linchpin on the football team’s offensive line, securing championships and All-ODAC selections in ’92 and ’93, demonstrating exceptional leadership as a team captain.

Ben Blevins ’09 made history in E&H men’s tennis, becoming the program’s first to earn All-ODAC First Team for singles in 2008. He also received All-ODAC Second Team for doubles in ’08 and ’09, and was a pivotal player earning ODAC Player of the Week honors in ’09. Blevins was also the team’s MVP in ’06 and ’09.
