E&H Alumni and Students Visit Cuba

Dr. Mark Finney (E&H Professor of Media and Communication) has led student trips to Cuba for years, and for the first time in 2023 invited alumni to join the excursion. The response was strong, and a great group of E&H alumni and community friends joined the trip for an unforgettable week based in Havana where they toured much of the island. Students and alumni forged new friendships and experienced a country once considered completely inaccessible to U.S. citizens. You can get a flavor for the trip by listening to a short podcast series wherever you listen–called “Cuban Excursion,” produced by student Anthony Smith, Jr. ’25.

    Setting Up for Success

    In October, the van Vlissingen Center for Career and Professional Development hosted its inaugural Fall Career Expo and welcomed more than 35 Tier 1 employers such as Hard Rock Casino & Resort, Eastman Chemical, Dollywood, Bristol Motor Speedway and the FBI. The event informed students about internship prospects and job opportunities. Attendees also had the opportunity to receive professional headshots.
