E&H Biology majors present research results at ASB 2019 in Memphis, TN!
Rising Senior Biology majors Madison McKinsey, Liberty Sheppard, and Carley Gunnell traveled to Memphis, TN to present the results of their independent research at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists, 26-30 March 2019.
As part of the Beta Beta Beta (BBB) Honor Society, Madison, Liberty, and Carley both represented the Eta Iota Chapter at E&H College at the District Annual meeting, but also presented the results of their independent research projects conducted over the past two years at ASB 2019. Madison’s research involves the evolution of antibiotic resistance and spread of resistant microorganisms in wild horse populations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Liberty’s research involves the spread of parasitic protozoa (a major cause of diarrheal disease) by Canada Geese in coastal Virginia and North Carolina. Carley’s research investigated the prevalence of healed fractures in arboreal and flying and squirrels in North America.
