APPLY NOW! Cuba - CORE 240: Cuban Culture and Identity Experience - Deadline: April 15, 2024

This course explores the music, society, food, politics, and landscape of Cuba. We will meet for one hour every other week during the fall semester and spend 10 nights on the Carribean island. Students will study the history, geography, arts culture, and people of Cuba, all while learning to produce a media program and experiencing musical immersion. Participants will additionally engage in Cuba’s traditions, including the unique experience of burning rag dolls on New Year’s Eve!

We will spend time in La Habana and several other locations, which will include excursions like a driving tour of Havana in beautifully restored 1950s American automobiles. We will also tour an eco-community of artists, take salsa lessons, see live concerts, and visit sites such as a coffee farm, a rum factory, a cigar plantation, and the Che Guevara Mausoleum. Knowledge of Spanish, music, or media production are not necessary in order to take this class. Cuba
