Deena Cress, MSW

Adjunct Professor School of Health Sciences

Deena Cress is the Executive Director of Wythe Hospice of SWVA, where has been employed for the past 23 years.  Initially hired as the medical social worker, she has been serving as director since 2015. She is also an adjunct instructor for Radford University and King University.  She has also held contract positions with Lutheran Family Services in intensive in-home youth services and worked with Mt Rogers CSB as a crisis worker.

She graduated from Radford University with her Master’s degree in Social Work in 2001 and her Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Intermont College in 1996 and an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Wytheville Community College. She has multiple continuing education hours in death and dying, bereavement, children’s grief issues, medical ethics, advance directives and is a certified perinatal loss counselor.  

She resides in Marion with her husband of 25 years and their 2 sons, Ethan and Alex.
