Saundra R. Farmer

Associate Professor School of Health Sciences

My name is Dr. Saundra Farmer and I started working at Emory & Henry on August 1, 2018 as the Director of the RN-BSN Nursing Program and the Director of the Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Lab.  I live in Abingdon, Virginia and love being able to work in the area I know very well and love.

I love being with my family and friends and enjoy any time we can get together.  I am the youngest of four children and blessed to have two wonderful brothers and one outstanding sister. I am a “Sissy” to two nieces and two nephews and a “GREAT-Sissy” to two great-nieces and three great-nephews.  I have one fur baby who is my child….Sheba, who is a black domestic cat who adopted me.

I love being outdoors and enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, and enjoy camping, but haven’t done this in quite some time.  I am an avid college football fan and I am a die-hard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes!!!  I do enjoy keeping up with schools in our region too - UT and VT.  I am looking forward to becoming a Wasp and hope to attend some football games as well as other sports.

I enjoy music and love going to hear live music, especially with our region being so rich with musical talent.  My favorite thing to do is travel - especially to warn, sunny climates.  I do love having the four seasons and there is beauty in each season God has created.

I am a member of Abingdon Baptist Church and involved in several aspects - sing in the Adult choir, drama ministry, and women’s ministry.  I grew up in this church since I was 8 years old and this is where God wanted me to be when I moved back to Abingdon.

I am looking forward to working here at E&H and being a part of such a friendly, compassionate academic environment.
