Luis chose Emory & Henry for the opportunities provided to engage with and serve his hometown community. He has been happy to find a host of ways to do this and to also be involved on campus. Luis plays soccer and is a Bonner Scholar, a member of the Civic Leader Scholars program, and is also a part of Raices, which is a student organization that seeks to bring awareness of and foster a sense of community for the Hispanic-Latinx students of the College. This year, he has served at Faith in Action, a local organization that works to address issues of hunger and poverty in the community. This experience, in particular, has been satisfying for Luis and has allowed him to see these issues in a new light. He is grateful for the chance that Emory & Henry has given him to grow both personally and academically and he looks forward to continuing to make a difference in the world.
