Morgan Callaghan

Morgan is working with Dr. Regenia Campbell to study the effects of gut permeability on inflammation in heart failure.  When asked to describe the research project, Morgan says, “The vagus nerve is one of the bodies cranial nerves that innervates both the gut and the heart. It has been show to carry information in both directions along the gut/brain axis and its stimulation has been seen to drastically improve heart function in those with heart failure…I am looking at one aspect of this broad idea that gut permeability may alter vagus nerve stimulation therapy. My research will be looking at the effect of gut permeability on inflammation in heart failure.”
