A native Virginian from Orange, Sam received her BS in Psychological Sciences from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA and received her MA in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Sam’s master’s thesis was on the Implementation Process of Gender Inclusive Housing at Universities. 

Sam started her career in higher education at Ball State University serving as a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Greek Life. There, she was primarily advising the National Pan-Hellenic Council (the historically African American fraternities & sororities) and assisting with the Greek Life Accreditation Program. In 2017, Sam was a NODA Intern for the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, working with their extensive Orientation and Transition Program. Prior to starting at Emory, Sam worked as a Residential Coordinator and Fraternity & Sorority Life Coordinator at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.
