Obesity: Prevention and Treatment

Dr. Angelopoulos is the co-editor of the book Obesity: Prevention and Treatment (CRC Press).

He currently serves as Associate Editor for the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, and is on the Editorial board of the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

He regularly reviews manuscripts for numerous journals including American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Obesity, Journal of Applied Physiology, Metabolism, and the International Journal of Sports Medicine.

Professional Experience

Dr. Angelopoulos is an alternate panelist in the European Food Safety Authority (2015-2018), a member of the Scientific Review Committee of the Obesity Society (TOS; 2015-2018), and an external evaluator of Hellenic Quality Assurance & Accreditation Agency (HQA).

He currently serves as the Associate Editor of the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine.

From 1991-1994 Dr. Angelopoulos was a post-doctoral fellow at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Missouri. Dr. Angelopoulos, during his tenure at the University of Central Florida (1998-2015) was a Professor in the Department of Health Professions 2005-2015 and Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory 2010-2015. Dr. Angelopoulos also served as Research Director for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Angelopoulos was the Director of Clinical Research for RLI Institute at Florida Hospital from 2002-2008.

From 2008-2014 Dr. Angelopoulos Chaired the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) International Relations Committee. As Chair of ACSM’s International Relations Committee (2008-2014) he has worked on several International projects and has traveled extensively giving workshops on health-related topics in Europe, South America and Asia.
