Michael Armbrister serves as adjunct faculty for the Geography Department, Physician Assistant Program, and MCOL Program. His professional experience includes work with state and local governments, non-profits, and educational institutions.

Mr. Armbrister has held the AICP certification from the American Planning Association, and an is an instructor for courses in community and organizational leadership, nonprofit management, and GIS.
As a planner with the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission, Michael helped to secure over $20 million in grant funding from state and federal programs and public and private foundations for community and economic development projects in a six-county, two-city region in Southwest Virginia.
He serves on the planning committee for Remote Area Medical (RAM) Smyth County, the board of directors of the Settlers Museum of Southwest Virginia, the board of directors of Guardian Angel Faith in Action, and the Emory & Henry College Department of Physician Assistant Studies Advisory Committee.
