March 14, 2020-Emergency Dependent Care FAQs

Re:  Emergency Dependent Care FAQs
Our office has fielded several questions from our previous email so we would like to share them with the broader group as a whole, along with our answers.  
Q:  Can I bring my dependent child or children to work with me?
A:  Unfortunately, no.  Due to the increased risk of illness and/or injury, we require that employees utilize one of the previously mentioned options for dependent care instead (paid sick leave, paid annual leave, unpaid Family Medical Leave and/or telecommute (if reasonable, able, and necessary) to provide emergency care for dependent children).
 
Q:  Are we working on Friday, March 20th?
A:  No, we are continuing to observe Friday, March 20th as a paid holiday.  Employees will return to work on Monday, March 23rd.  
 
Q:  How can I view my current leave balances?
A:  Employees may view their current leave balances in Self Service under Employee > Leave 
Q:  What are the qualifying reasons for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act?
A:  Please visit the US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division fact sheet for reasons that may qualify as unpaid leave.  
Q:  Who do I contact with questions that are not listed here?
A:  Please contact TracyMaggie, or Teresa in Human Resources with any questions or to request Family Medical Leave.
