March 17, 2020-A Message from President Dr. John W. Wells

Friends and Students of Emory & Henry,

Events have moved quickly in our nation and communities over the last week. As always, Emory & Henry has stood to the challenge. Please take a moment to listen to some of the moves we have made as well as some reminders about the strength and resilience of our great College.

Of note, we will begin online/alternative class offerings Monday, March 30 and plan to run them through Friday, April 10. We will make an announcement Monday, April 6, if we need to abandon having seated classes through the remainder of the year. I know this could equate to lots of logistical challenges and very possibly delaying commencement. We will work through this together for our safety and that of our country. These are unprecedented times to manage but in true E&H spirit, we will persevere and rise to the occasion. We will do what is right, just and fair.

Over the course of the coming weeks, I will plan to provide periodic written and video updates of the unfolding situation. We know there are lots of questions yet to be answered. Please send them to me so I can take them forward to our planning team. I remain grateful to the Board, the faculty, staff, and administrators who are working so diligently to maintain the unique level of excellence that is Emory & Henry.

With optimism,
Dr. John W. Wells, President
