April 2, 2020-Updates to Summer I Curriculum Delivery, Campus Events, and Travel In Response to VA Executive Order #55

All,

Please read this email in its entirety as it contains important College updates at Emory & Henry College in response to the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus.

On Monday, June 30th, Virginia Governor Northam issued Executive Order #55 (2020), which is a “stay at home” order. This executive order is effective immediately and is effective through June 10th, 2020. As a result, these updates are in direct response to this Executive Order.

Online Class Announcement for Summer 1, 2020 Session
At this time, we will be moving the entire curriculum online for the first summer session. We are announcing this at this time in order to provide students, faculty, and staff time to prepare for transitioning those offerings completely online.

If faculty wish to add additional online course offerings for Summer 1, please work directly with Provost Dr. Michael J. Puglisi and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs Dr. Matthew Frederick.

For students at the School of Health Sciences, please be on the lookout for additional information on your summer schedule from Dr. Lou Fincher and Dr. JP Barfield.

Cancelation of Campus Events, All International, and All Domestic Travel Through June 30th
At this time, we are canceling all on-campus events through June 30th in direct response to the Governor’s Executive Order.

Camp Directors are working on camps and conferences that will be impacted by this update.

Further, we are canceling all college-sponsored domestic and international travel through June 30th.

We strongly encourage all faculty, staff, and students to follow the executive order in regards to personal travel.

As this COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus pandemic continues to evolve, Emory & Henry College will continue to make updates to the campus community in a timely fashion with the intention of keeping the campus community as safe as possible.

Please let Associate Provost and Dean of Students Ryan Bowyer know if you have any questions regarding this information at rbowyer@ehc.edu
