Stephanie Rutledge

Professor; Chair of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Department Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Dr. Stephanie Hall Rutledge is a licensed professional counselor in Virginia and New Jersey. Her interests include grief counseling, multicultural counseling, the professional identity of counselors, and group work. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), a Certified Thanatologist (CT) and is certified by EAGALA as a mental health practitioner trained in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. She also enjoys serving in the roles of site visitor and team chair for CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs).

Teaching

Dr. Rutledge was a full time faculty member at Eastern Kentucky University from 2007-2009, at Monmouth University from 2009-2020 and served as Department Chair at Monmouth University from 2015-2020. She joined Emory & Henry as the Founding Department Chair of Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020.

Professional Experience

Dr. Rutledge has 19 years of experience in the field of counseling and has worked in various settings including community agencies, schools and in private practice. Her clinical expertise is in grief and trauma counseling and she is trained in EMDR.
