As the Career Advisor at The van Vlissingen Center for Career and Professional Development, my main initiative is to guide students and alumni along their career journey.
My main goal is for students and alumni to feel empowered to be their authentic selves as they navigate the world-of-work. We are most likely to find satisfaction in our work when our values, needs, and interests align with our professional lives and I am dedicated to helping you make that happen.
I am honored to join the van Vlissingen Center for Career and Professional Development team as I know I will thrive in an environment where I can focus on the individual needs of each student that I serve while helping to develop a program that will benefit the entire campus community.
Prior to joining Emory & Henry College, I worked for two years as the Assistant Director of Internships at Stetson University, located in Central Florida. Prior to that, I served as a Career Counselor and Learning Coordinator for student-athletes at the University of Northern Colorado. In 2015, I spent a year at the Universidad Maya de Quintana Roo in Southern Mexico learning how to infuse intercultural education within an indigenous serving institution…a life-changing experience!
I lived in Damascus, VA for ten years and although I have been all over the world since then, my heart never left SWVA. I am thrilled to return to this beautiful community so that I may raise my young family here. You will likely see my three-year-old son, Omar and my spouse Eduardo on campus. Be sure to say, “Hola!”
