John Jackson

Associate Professor; Chair of the Occupational Therapy Department Occupational Therapy

John Jackson has been an occupational therapist for 28 years. He began his career working for a hospital system in Texas holding several positions such as Director of Occupational Therapy and Director of Inpatient Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. While working at the hospital John did serve five years as a surveyor for The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation (CARF). He has enjoyed working as a skilled clinician in many different settings and working with all age groups throughout his career. John’s favorite area of practice is hand and upper extremity rehabilitation in which he is a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). 

John began his teaching career at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2003 and has found a passion in training students to become occupational therapy leaders of the future. Occupational therapy is a great career in providing care to persons of all ages in promoting independence in life skills and meaningful occupations. John shares a passion for collecting and analyzing rehab outcomes data in which he did receive 2 grants in this area between 2008 and 2013.
