Admissions Counselor Admissions

Jalecia, affectionately known as “Jay”, was born in Macon, GA, and raised in Florence, SC. Jay has always been athletic and outgoing. She ran track for 10 years, and in high school won region champion in the 400 meter and 400x100 relay. She got a scholarship to run at Coker University, being the first to compete through the College’s new Track and Field Program. All 4 years she ran track and continued to break records in her events (400H, 400x100, and 400x400 relay). She later earned her Bachelors in Counseling Psychology in 2018 and began interning for a non-profit organization, Cypress Adventures Inc. Their main focus was to teach social and emotional learning to adolescents through the power of play. As she interned, she discovered new things about herself everyday. Then she was finally able to join staff full-time. She was a big help by becoming an excellent mentor and built connections with high school and middle school students showing compassion and care with each individual. She was also able to step out of her comfort zone, and developed a passion for outdoor adventure. Jalecia also enjoys being a mother to her only son, Aiden. She recently moved to Abingdon, VA still having the desire and passion to continue to connect with students and parents by becoming an admissions counselor for Emory & Henry. She is very excited to start her next chapter in life.
