Ashlee Dawn Medley
Professor Medley is a full time faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Sciences at Emory & Henry College as well as the Rehab Coordinator for the Mel Leaman Free Clinic.
She initially started at the College of Health Sciences as an Adjunct Professor in August 2016 and joined full time in January 2017. Professor Medley graduated with a M.S. degree in Physical Therapy and a B.S. in Allied Health from the University of Kentucky Center for Rural Health in 1998. She earned her Pediatric Specialist Certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialist Certification (ABPTS) in July of 2017.
She attended Emory & Henry College from 1993-1995 before transferring to the University of Kentucky to pursue her Physical Therapy degree.
Upon graduation, she began her career in Smyth County working full time in Outpatient Rehabilitation and Pediatrics where she spent the following 18 years in clinical practice and served as Clinical Manager at a local Outpatient Rehabilitation practice in Chilhowie, VA.

Within the Department of Physical Therapy at Emory & Henry College, Professor Medley assists in various courses including Pediatrics and Lifespan Human Development, Dry Anatomy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Patient Care Skills as well as Administration and Management.
Her responsibility as the Rehab Clinic Coordinator at the Mel Leaman Free Clinic includes supervision of DPT students while providing rehabilitation services for the medically underserved in our rural community.
In addition, she will be working in coordination with other PT, OT and PA faculty at Emory & Henry College to provide interprofessional collaborative experiences for the students in these academic programs.

Professor Medley brings a strong background of clinical experience and leadership to our program.
She has worked closely in collaboration with local pediatricians to provide pediatric physical therapy care in the Public School Setting, Early Intervention and Outpatient Rehabilitation for many infants and children in the Smyth County area. She also has extensive experience in the area of outpatient orthopedics with all ages as well as sub specialty experience in vestibular rehabilitation and Workers Compensation Rehabilitation. She is currently licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Virginia.
