August 17, 2021-COVID-19 Return to Campus Update: Mandatory Indoor Mask Update
Dear Emory & Henry Community,
We are writing today to update you on our masking policy moving forward for all campuses (Emory, Marion, Equestrian Center, Bartlett-Crowe Field Station). We want to thank each of you for all you have done thus far to assist us in preventing the spread of COVID-19 as we start a new academic year.
Due to the increasing prevalence of the Delta variant in our region and community, E&H will move to a mandatory indoor masking policy until September 15th for all faculty, staff, students, and guests to our campus. This is effective tomorrow, August 18th, 2021. Please note that this policy is in compliance with the CDC recommendation for indoor mask use in high spread regions, which includes Washington and Smyth counties.
Prior to September 15th, the Executive Council will reevaluate the state of the pandemic and may update our policy then.
Masks will be required in all indoor spaces - classrooms, the dining hall, athletic training rooms, meeting spaces, in the residence hall common areas, etc. Further, masks should be worn while in vehicles on college-related trips. In the dining hall, masks may be removed only when seated at a table and eating. Please note that if you alone are in a private office or a private residence hall space, you do not need to mask.
Please review our student vaccination policy here. We continue to urge each and every member of our community to vaccinate against COVID-19.
