Kathleen C Savage

Clinical Assistant Professor Physical Therapy

Dr. Savage is a full time faculty member of the Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Sciences at Emory & Henry College, and is the Director of Clinical Education for the program.  

Dr. Savage has a background in education, holding Academic Clinical Coordinator of Education and Program Director positions in physical therapist assistant programs for several years and is a Board Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She has clinical experience in in-patient rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. Other areas in which she has worked are acute care, pelvic health, and out-patient orthopedics for the older population.

She has been a site-visitor and commissioner for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, the accrediting body for physical therapy programs in the United States, as well as held elected positions in the American Physical Therapy Association/Tennessee Chapter.

Research

Dr. Savage is interested in research regarding geriatrics including balance and falls as well as pelvic health for the older person.  Additionally, she is interested in research incorporating standardized patients in simulation labs for enhanced student learning.
