Alexa Shockley

Alexa, class of ’23, joined the E&H family because of the welcoming atmosphere of the campus. She is a Creative Writing and Mass Communications Double major and hopes to go to grad school after graduation. Alexa appreciates the professor to student ratio on campus, the Local Greek Life, the friends she’s made, and the opportunities that she has had to get involved on campus. Alexa is busy! She is involved in the following:

  • Alpha Beta Chi social sorority
  • Editor-in-Chief of the Whitetopper
  • Marching Band,
  • Greek Council
  • Honors Program
  • Bonner Program,
  • LGBTQ+ student union.

When she’s not in class or working with a student organization, Alexa likes to hang out with her friends, watch Netflix, write, or explore the towns surrounding the campus.

Alexa has been involved in different projects like the Appalachian Oral History Project (AOHP) and the Social Justice research projects, and even volunteering in her hometown over the summer. This fall, she will be working on the Appalachian Oral History Project, of which her favorite part is hearing the stories from people in the area, which inspire her in many different ways. She hopes to listen to as many tapes as she can, so that she can be a part of preserving the history of Appalachia.
