Mary Ellis Rice

Director of New Student Academics Office of Student Success

I’m Mary Ellis Rice, and I am the Director of New Student Academics at Emory & Henry. I can help advise first-year students and direct students to campus resources.

While I didn’t attend Emory & Henry as a student, I did graduate from another small college, Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Small liberal arts colleges are unique, transformative places, and I’m so proud to work to support the heart of these sacred places – the students themselves.

I received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, a Master of Arts in Rhetoric, Writing, and Linguistics from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Columbia University.
