Samantha Salyer began her career in pharmacy in the summer of 2000 as a clerk at CVS pharmacy. She continued to work at CVS for 5 years, until enrolling in the animal science program at Virginia Tech.
While at Virginia Tech, she participated in many activities, including 4-H days, Hokie Harvest Horse Sale and Block & Bridle Club. Upon graduating, she began pursuing a master’s of science in education. While completing her degree, she began to work for Walgreens Pharmacy in 2007 and was accepted into the accelerated 3 year Pharm.D program at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy for the graduating class of 2011.
She completed her remaining classes for her master’s degree from Virginia Tech in 2009 while still attending pharmacy school. She held positions in two student organizations -the American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists: ACP Chapter, where she served as immunization chair for 2 years and the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists: ACP Chapter, where she served as secretary for 2 years.
During pharmacy school, she attended annual conferences for both organizations at the state and national level. She also attended Remote Area Medical events in Wise County, VA and Bristol, TN. Upon graduating pharmacy school in 2011, she accepted a position at Walgreens where she continues to work.
