March 22, 2022-COVID-19 Masking and Testing Policy Updates

Masking Update

National and regional cases remain on a downtrend trend, and the CDC now classifies our area as one of medium/low spread.

As a result, effective Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Emory & Henry will move to a mask optional policy for those individuals that are fully vaccinated. If you are unvaccinated, please continue to wear a mask indoors.

Faculty retain the right to require masks in their classrooms. Students—please assume that you will be masked in classrooms until you hear otherwise from your faculty. Please understand if a faculty member asks you to mask in their classroom that this will remain policy. Offices and organizations hosting events and meetings also retain the right to require masks—assume that you should continue to wear a mask in these spaces unless otherwise told. In those circumstances and spaces, you will also need to wear a mask.

As a reminder, our vaccination rates on both campuses remain quite high. Over 85% of the Emory campus is fully vaccinated whereas the Health Sciences campus boasts a 95% vaccination rate. Our dashboard for the semester can be viewed online.

Testing Update

Effective March 21, weekly COVID-19 testing will take place at the Health Center on Monday mornings between 8–10:30 a.m. Employees with designated appointment times will have priority. A mask must be worn in the Health Center and at any time while in an indoor common space waiting for coronavirus testing.

All employees and students who need to test to meet the weekly requirement will need to make arrangements to test during this time.

Additional testing for symptomatic individuals will be by appointment only in the Health Center. Please call 276-944-6219 during normal operating hours to schedule an appointment.
