Database Administrator Information Technology

Kenneth Brown, as the Database Administrator, plans, administers, and coordinates integrated online administrative systems as well as designs and implements administrative technology projects, and prioritizes job requests through management consultation and personal review.

Ken develops and delivers reports, documentation, and quality assurance test plans. He provides planning through goal development, proper staff assignments, scheduling, risk assessment, contingency plans, and resource allocation.

Goals, realistic time frames, procedural direction, required staffing, definition of technical scope and objectives, and overall identification of needed resources are determined by Ken. He confers with office personnel to provide advice and direct problem resolution, assign security levels and access to create and maintain system security.

The data conversions and system migrations are performed by Ken. He supports the Ellucian Colleague ERP systems including the Web UI and WebAdvisor interfaces, creating and assigning security classes, user account creation, the creation and support of data queries, and all varied troubleshooting of the system, in person, by phone or through e-mail.

Other tasks supported by Ken include Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge through continuous data imports from Ellucian Colleague, global maintenance of data and accounts, support and creation of data queries, and all varied troubleshooting of the system via in-person, phone, or through e-mail contact. The Pharos 360 Retention Software, the HUB, and populates data through continuous data imports from the Entrinsik Informer reporting solution, the maintenance of the Datacard ID Works identification software and the CBORD Odyssey PCS system. The responsibility for the support and maintenance of the MBS, Missouri Book Services, POS, Point of Sale, and SFA, student financial aid, systems and the continued setup and requirements of the Entrinsik Informer web-based reporting tool through user account creation, data security, report creation and troubleshooting of various data retrieval issues.

He is the point of contact for all administrative systems and is the liaison for the ICE Consortium. The commencement of his employment by Emory & Henry College dated 09/09/1996.
