Travis W. Proffitt

Director, Access and Equity Initiatives and Instructor, Peace & Social Justice Studies Office of the Provost

Hello!  My name is Travis Proffitt and I am the Director of Academic Diversity Initiatives and Instructor in Peace & Social Justice Studies at Emory & Henry College.

I am a 2004 graduate of Emory & Henry, holding degrees in Religion and Public Policy & Community Service. I completed my M.A. in Social Justice at Loyola University Chicago in May 2008.

In 2017, I began doctoral studies at The Union Institute & University, where I’m pursuing a Ph.D. in Humanities and Culture.  My research focuses broadly on diversity in Appalachia, with my forthcoming dissertation research on religious diversity and identity in rural Appalachian communities.

Please stop by the Inclusion & Dialogue Center and visit for a while. I’d appreciate your perspective on what makes an E&H education meaningful for all persons and how we can make the educational experience inclusive and representative of our diverse community.
